Food Photographer for CookApp | Tina Case Photography

My latest photo assignment has taken me to the heart of San Francisco.  Last month I was introduced to a company called CookApp through one of my favorite family clients.  Pedro Rivas, CEO and co-founder of CookApp, and my client are family friends through graduate school at Stanford. Pedro asked my friend if she knew of any photographers in San Francisco. She hooked me up with Pedro and we quickly hit it off.  After a couple of phone calls and portfolio review I am an official food photographer for CookApp (I have profiled 3 chefs so far, Doug, Carina and Anna). For more about CookApp check out this great article from the NYPost.  It's one of my favorite on-going assignments.  Not only do I get to meet new and interesting people I also get to photograph a wide variety of food, settings and people.

CookApp started in Buenos Aires in May 2013 and has amassed 41,000 registered attendees.  New York City launched in February of this year and already has 6,100 registered users.  In each of these cities talented chefs who might otherwise never have had the opportunity to realize their dream of opening up a restaurant can now open up their home to entertain guests with their culinary delights.  CookApp makes it all possible.  This month they are launching in San Francisco.  As new chefs come on board I will capture the city's amazing chefs, their culinary profiles and sample some scrumptious food along the way.  Yay Food Photography!

In my role as a CookApp photographer it is my job to meet with each chef in their home and photograph them as they prepare a meal.  The images I take bring their story to life and captures their style and cuisine.  Since I love to try all sorts of tasty delights this sure makes my job doubly fun!

As a CookApp photographer I meet up with the San Francisco CookApp Sous Chef and Operations Rep.  He schedules each of the chef profiles and together we meet with each location, take photos and happily get to taste their food creations along the way.  I primarily use natural lighting as opposed to strobe or flash photography.  The key for me is capturing photos with a wide-open aperture and honing in on the details.  It's so key to have my white balance set to have accurate colors.

Check out a few of my recent photos - and be sure to check out CookApp and wine and dine in a new and savory home setting.

For more information on CookApp check out their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
