I am forever grateful for clients and friends who love my work and refer me to more friends and their contacts at work. It is the BEST compliment I can receive. And that's how one photo leads to another and another. I've been asked how I was able to secure several fantastic positions as official photographer for the Palo Alto Children's Theatre and as a staff photographer for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, one of the most prestigious investment firms in the valley.
In the case of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre, photos I took for the Retro Dome led to a parent contacting me to work for the Palo Alto Children's Theatre. This role has truly been a fantastic experience. I always leave that job humming tunes from each performance and am in awe of the incredible young talent. I take a variety of photos including PR photos, head shots, soft opening and archival.
A serendipitous (one of my favorite words) moment at a child's birthday party led to my assignment at Kleiner Perkins. I happened to snap photos of the guests including a beautiful mother and her two children. It turned out that mother worked at KPCB and she referred me for the position of freelance staff photographer. I've been taking photos for them since November of last year. Each assignment is like a mini TEDTalk. I learn and am inspired by the discussions as I shoot. One of my most memorable shots from their holiday event was of former Vice President Al Gore chatting with a young man who looked so familiar. Later when I returned home to develop my images I was amazed to learn the young man's name. Reed Jobs. He is the spitting image of his dad, Steve. I was so pleased that the image came out tack sharp. Phew. [At this time the image is part of KP's private collection.]
A former colleague from HP introduced me to the owner and creator of Dishcrawl. That introduction led to one of the most amazing opportunities for me, not only taking food photos (I absolutely LOVE food photography) but it resulted in a wonderful relationship with Tracy Lee, the CEO and founder of Dishcrawl. Tracy is such an inspiration to me. I now sit on her Board of Advisors. Uh-huh - that's right!
Below are some recent corporate shots of the Dishcrawl team. We had a fun time taking these shots in San Jose near their offices. As it turns out it was quite timely as they were featured recently in BizJournal. You can see that article here.

I have a few more amazing and serendipitous opportunities on the horizon that are the result of word of mouth. I can't wait to share them soon.
I truly feel so blessed and fortunate to have these opportunities. My journey as a photographer has been an amazing experience and I thank God every day for what it's brought to my life.
My biggest heartfelt thanks for all of your referrals!
