Taste and Savor Food Photography | Tina Case Food Photographer Bay AreaI hate to admit that I am often sucked into the Facebook vortex. I can lose track of time if I am clicking too many links and liking too many pages. But I am happy to share one wonderful outcome of my Facebook mania. And that is, a new found friendship that formed simply by liking someone's work on Facebook and leaving a comment or two. Those comments lead to conversations and those conversations grew into a friendship with Nancy Waldeck, my new found friend via Facebook. How did we meet? We met in a round about way. Our common connection is Jeanette, a friend from my childhood. Jeanette and I knew each other in elementary school. We were neighbors for only a few years. My family moved away and so we lost touch. Years later, and I'm talking at least 3 decades later, we reconnected via Facebook. Now I "see" Jeanette all the time through her blog at Jeanette's Healthy Living and Facebook, and she sees my photography here and at http://www.facebook.com/TinaCasePhotography. It is because of Jeanette that I met Nancy Waldeck, head chef at Taste and Savor in Atlanta. Nancy and I would leave comments on Jeanette's Facebook page. That lead to us discovering each other's pages and just like a sunflower in the garden our friendship flourished. When Nancy told me she was coming out my way to California I was thrilled. We met last week for the first time. And what a fantastic time it was. Nancy invited me to accompany her to Napa Valley, one of my favorite places in the world. It's like a piece of heaven on earth. Along with Lea Zachary Bowen, Sous Chef and Partyologist (love that) for Nancy, we headed up to Napa from San Francisco. A little rain didn't dampen our spirits. We visited Round Pond Estates and had an amazing private tour that included wine tasting and food pairing. Then we headed to Truchard Vineyards for a different but just as amazing experience. In between vineyards we had a tasty lunch at a local deli in Yountville. It was such a wonderful day to capture in pictures. I ended up making this little video showreel for Nancy and Lea so they would remember our day and have a way of showing their friends and family what they did when they were in California. I hope to visit them in Atlanta one day. What fun that would be. For sure it will be a chance to Taste and Savor in Atlanta. Here's the video I made them and a few photos follow. Any chance you get to visit Napa you should. It has the most amazing weather, food, spas and of course, vineyards. It's a slice of heaven.
